Attack on Nasarawa community claims 1 live, 2 missing
A fresh attack on Aba’agu, a densely populated farming community in Obi Local Goverment Area of Nasarawa State has claimed one live, while two others are reportedly missing.
The attackers suspected to be armed herdsmen, reportedly invaded the community Wednesday evening at about 7:30pm when farmers were returning from the farms after the day’s labour.
It was gathered that the suspected herders numbering five wielding AK-47 opened fire when they made their way into the settlement during which they killed one person and whisked two others away.
A resident in the area who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said that the community had been living peacefully without suspicion of danger when before the invaders struck.
“We have been living peacefully without suspecting any danger, not knowing that we are going to come under attack
“This reminds us of the ugly incident in 2015 when our community was burnt down by invaders
“We lost one person to the attack and as I speak, two people are still missing,” the resident said.
Aba’agu community had been in the news over persistent attacks by suspected armed herders forcing residents to leave in perpetual fear and loss of lives and property in recent times
