Panic as Gunmen again kill POS operator in Ekiti

Ekiti State in the early hours of yesterday witnessed another killing, as gunmen murdered a popular Point of Sale (POS) operator, identified as Alfa Taofeek in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The POS operator was killed in front of his shop, opposite the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, Ado Ekiti.

The gunmen reportedly besieged the premises with a motorbike and murdered the victim before carting away his valuables.

A source told journalists that, “Alfa was just opening his shop after dropping his kids in school when the men of the underworld struck.”

Alfa Taofeek is well known in the area with the display of bread on his vehicle.

His corpse was said to have been deposited at the morgue of EKSUTH by the police.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said that investigation had commenced into the matter.

“Immediately we got the information, we mobilised our men to the scene. The man was found lying down in a pool of his blood and was moved to the general hospital where he was confirmed dead.

“His body has been deposited in the morgue. Right now, the Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation into the incident to ensure that the criminals are arrested and brought to justice.”

Recall that some  gunmen on motorcycle had on Tuesday this week shot dead a ticket officer of the Okada Riders Association, Omoyajowo Samuel at Okesa Area of Ado Ekiti.
