Alleged Rape At FUOYE: Student arrested, SUG issues disclaimer
A 400-level student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Oni Olalekan, popularly known as Asiwaju, has been arrested for allegedly raping a fellow male student in Oye Ekiti.
The incident came to light after a screenshot of a conversation uploaded on X formerly Twitter, appeared to show Asiwaju making inappropriate advances towards the victim. According to reports, Asiwaju, a 400 level criminology student, had allegedly raped four male students in the student area before his arrest.
The FUOYE Student Union Government (FUOYESUG), has issued a statement distancing themselves from Asiwaju, clarifying that he is not a member of the union. The union has assured the public that they are taking the matter seriously and are working to ensure justice is served. Asiwaju has been handed over to the police, and the union has urged the public to disregard any misinformation.
The incident has sparked concerns about student safety and the need for increased awareness and support for victims of sexual assault.
