Again, gunmen kill Okada rider in Ekiti

Ekiti State has again witnessed another killing of one of its members identified as Omoyajowo Samuel

It was learnt that some unknown gunmen yesterday stormed the Okesa area in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital and murdered the deceased in cold blood. Omoyajowo was said to be one of those issuing tickets to commercial motorcyclists in the area.

Recall that last month a missing Okada rider was later found dead at Iworoko road with mutilated body.

The State Chairman of Okada Riders Association, Mr Kunle Ashaolu, has condemned the  killing of his member by the unknown assailants.

He described the incident as unfortunate and barbaric, while calling on the  State  Police Command to do thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to book.

He commiserated with the deceased family and promised to cater for the family, adding that the Late Samuel was a very dedicated member.

“When I heard the news, I was sad. I have not been myself because I was shocked since I heard the news.

“I urge the Police to fish out the killers and I commiserate with the family of the deceased because the young man was very good to us.

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely death and we pray to Almighty God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“I will advise my members to be very cautious in whatever they are doing, bearing in mind the family you come from. I will just urge them to be cautious.

“We will discuss with the family on how we are going to cater for the burial arrangements, pay the bills for the mortuary and others. The union will do something for the children he left behind.”

On his part, the Branch Chairman of the Union in Mojere Ado where the deceased was a member, Mr Sodiq Akinola, who revealed that the deceased was a Muslim, called for the release of the corpse for burial according to Islamic rites.
