Lagos bizman remanded in prison for raping 2 under aged daughters
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ court has remanded a 40-year-old businessman, Opeyemi Olanrewaju, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his two daughters.
Olanrewaju, who resides in the Ijegun area of Lagos State, was charged with rape by the police.
During the court hearing, Chief Magistrate Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, did not accept Olanrewaju’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction. The case has been adjourned until June 26 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to ASP Raji Akeem, the prosecutor in the case, the alleged offenses occurred between September 2021 and May 2024. Olanrewaju’s wife reportedly caught him molesting their seven-year-old daughter.
She also caught him assaulting their five-year-old daughter. The case was subsequently reported to the police, leading to Olanrewaju’s arrest.
According to the court, the alleged actions of Olanrewaju contravene section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which deals with the offense of rape. If found guilty, he may spend the rest of his life behind bars.
