Police arrest 3 suspected informants in connection with kidnap of Sokoto female lawyer
The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the kidnap of a female lawyer, Mrs Rukayyat Mustafa in the state.
The suspects were nabbed for allegedly giving information to bandits which resulted in the kidnap of the lawyer in the Bado area of the state.
Confirming the kidnap, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Ahmed Rufai, said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday.
“The bandits stormed her house and kidnapped Rukayyat along with a young man whom we believe is her younger brother.
“The three persons we arrested are suspected to be the ones giving information to bandits and they are already in our custody.
“Hopefully, we will get to the root of the matter in a short period and get her rescued,” he added.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Nuhu Muhammad confirmed the incident and prayed for her safety and quick release.
Also speaking, Fadinand Okotete, a Notary Public, and Principal partner of the law firm where Mrs Mustafa works said that she was kidnapped by bandits at about 1 am.
Okotete further said the terrorists stormed her residence and kidnapped Rukayyat along with a young man.
He explained that after walking to a vehicle that was parked far away from her residence, the bandits then released the young man and told him to go back or they would shoot him.
