Gunmen attack travelers, abduct 4 in Ondo community


Kidnappers have reportedly attacked an 18-seat bus traveling along Irun/ Imesi-Ekiti in the Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State, abducting four of the travelers.

Sources in the town said the victims of the kidnap are indigenes of Irun Akoko, bordering Ikare- Akoko, in Akoko Northeast and Ekiti communities, in the incident which sources said occurred on Saturday around 6 pm.

It was also learnt that soldiers and Amotekun Corps from Ekiti and Ondo states with the cooperation of local vigilances are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims.

Confirming the incident, the Commander of the state security network, code named Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said security agencies were working towards securing the release of the victims.

Adeleye in his reaction said, “my men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest, but the hoodlums did not kidnap the 18 passengers on the bus.

“Some of the passengers escaped themselves, while our men with soldiers rescued some of the victims in the night. Our men are combing the forest as we speak.”
