Security guards kill commercial driver in Ondo

Some private security guards have allegedly killed a driver, Adewale Olowolafe, along the Akure/Ijare road in the Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Olowolafe was allegedly killed by the suspects along Ijare on Wednesday. It was learnt that the suspects are security guards in the area

An eyewitness, who craved anonymity said the suspects allegedly beat the deceased, during a fight, with an iron rod, leading to his death, saying that the mastermind of the killing was a female who had also been arrested by the police.

The eyewitness said, “The deceased is from  Ijare, he was a driver and was killed yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon by some private security guards along Ijare Road. The boy was hacked to death by the guards for no justifiable reason.

“The guy was equally hit with hot iron and sticks. The killing was masterminded by a woman. The deceased was going about his normal daily activities when the attackers pounced on him. Some people selling maize around the area offered the suspects firewood with which they hit the deceased.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident yesterday said it had arrested three persons in connection with the alleged killing, adding that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation
