…five sacked emirs given 48 hours to vacate seats

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the reappointment of Muhammadu Sanusi as the Emir of Kano, and said all other appointments carried out under the 2019 law are dissolved.

In the same vein the governor gave all former Emir’s 48 hours to vacate all their palaces and hand over all Emirate Council properties to the Commissioner of Local Government who also doubles as the state Deputy Governor.

Governor Yusuf, signed the State Amended Kano Emirates Bill 2024 into Law, repealing the former laws that balkanized the over 1000 years history of the emirate.

By the signing of the 2024 new Emirates Council Law, the Governor said the 2019 Emirate Councils Law has been thrown away and becomes history.

Flanked by the State Assembly Speaker, Ismaila Falgore, the Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and others, he said the State Assembly concluded one of their Constitutional role by signing the 2024 repealed Bill into Law.

Yusuf, noted in frustration that the 2019 Emirate Councils Law rather dragged Kano centuries back and retarded it’s progress.

He said the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi 11 will remain the single Emir of Kano and that others are now history and they should as a matter of 48 Hours not only vacate their seats, but ensure that all properties at their disposal are returned to the state.
