Suspected cultists have reportedly killed a rival, simply identified as Segun in Bode-Olude area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Our correspondent gathered that, the deceased, popularly known as “Ojo Ibo” was hacked to death by suspected members of another cult group on Tuesday.
An eye witness told our correspondent that, the assailants, numbering five stormed the area on motorcycle and shot into the air to scare off residents.
It was further gathered that Segun was hacked with machete to death while his right wrist was chopped off.
“The hoodlums stormed our community around 9.30pm on Tuesday and fired several shots which sent residents in different directions.
“They went after Segun, chased and caught up with him and descended on him with machetes.
“Three out of the attackers left on their motorcycles, while two others stayed behind to chop off the victim’s wrist.
“It was while the two others were trying to escape that some residents summoned courage and gave the hoodlums a chase.
“One of the hoodlums was caught from where he was hiding and the mob descended on him beating him to a pulp.
“The police later came and rescued him from the mob,” the source said.
