Wife drags Delta PDP chief to court over marital issues

The wife of the immediate past Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs Uche MaryRose, has dragged her husband, Dr Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, to the Customary Court to dissolve their three-year old marriage.

The woman, in suit number UDCC/ 6/2024 cried that the marriage has since broken down and she could no longer live together with him.

She told the court that she was incompatible with him as there was lack of love and she had found it intolerable to live with him.

Through her counsel, Harry Ororho, she said she had lived apart from the politician for over two years, owing to his unfriendly character.

She said since they got married on December 18, 2020, under Igbo Native Law and Custom, and gave birth to a baby girl, she has been the only person catering for the child.

“I pray for an order of court granting custody of the only child of the marriage, Miss Rita-Frances Nnedinma Ezenyili, to me, as well as an order granting her leave to refund the bride price/ dowry of N10,000.00, to the respondent through the Registry of the court,” she sought.

But the Respondent, Dr Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, who is seeking re-election, in a cross petition, through his counsel, Ariomagwha Medjor, said he was opposed to the dissolution of the marriage.

He affirmed that the marriage was contracted under Ihiala Native Law and Custom.

The Judge, Tumb├│ Tamaraukuro Jane, has adjourned further hearing to May 14, 2024.
