Resumption: Gunmen abduct father, son in Ondo

Suspected gunmen have abducted a man, Maliki Onose, and his son, Jethro Onose while traveling from Benin, Edo State to Imeri in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State for school resumption.

Jethro, a student of Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Imeri was with his father Maliki to resume school after a three-week break and ran into the kidnappers in the early hours of yesterday.

A source explained that the kidnappers, who had positioned themselves at strategic places, stopped the victims and subsequently dragged them into the bush.

He said the young boy and his father were stopped and abducted at a bad spot along the notorious routes between Edo and Ondo states.

His words, “The senior secondary school student was abducted along with his father while traveling to Imeri after some three weeks break.

“The father was attacked by the kidnappers before the hoodlums overpowered them and dragged them into the forest.”

The state Police command confirmed the adoption of the father and son, but said detectives from the command and other security agencies are combing the forest.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami, said the command in conjunction with men of the Naval rating has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.

She said the security personnel are making efforts to ensure the two victims are rescued alive and assured that they will soon regain their freedom.
