Delta: Dead police families get N47.8m compensation

Succour has come the way of families of 22 deceased police officers’ that died in active service in Delta State as the State Police Command has presented a N47,827,529 cheque to them.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abaniwonda Olufemi, issued N8 million cheque to each of their next of kin in Asaba, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police as part of the IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme of Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes.

The CP, assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Tokunbo Afolabi, noted that the welfare of both serving and late officers were interests of the IGP.

He appreciated the IGP and said the money would be a consolation to the families and made them know that though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices in a hurry.
