Lagos police arrests man for eloping with N120,000 diesel

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a man, Enyi Emmanuel, for allegedly absconding with N120,000 worth of diesel he purchased from a gas station in the state. The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed the arrest via his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

According to Hundeyin, Emmanuel visited a gas station at Ile Zik in a Toyota Sienna car to fill his kegs with diesel worth over N120,000. After informing the attendant to fetch a Point of Sales terminal, Emmanuel drove off, leaving the attendant behind.

Hundeyin tweeted, “Enyi Emmanuel went to a filling station at Ile Zik in a Sienna, filled his kegs with diesel worth N120,000, and asked the attendant to go get the POS terminal. He then sped off. The alarm was raised.

He abandoned the vehicle and ran away upon sighting a police patrol team on Airport Road, Ikeja. The vehicle and diesel were recovered, and investigation led to the arrest of the suspect.”

Emmanuel confessed to the crime and will face prosecution, Hundeyin added.

The suspect’s modus operandi has reportedly been successful in the past, but this time, his actions led to his arrest.

Hundeyin emphasised, “He confessed to having succeeded with this modus operandi many times. However, his actions this time led to his arrest. Prosecution follows.”
