Day-old baby in polythene bag rescued in Lagos

The Police in Lagos have rescued a day old baby abandoned by unknown person at the Surulere area of the state.

The baby boy was rescued on Monday, April 15, 2024, in a polythene bag where he was abandoned on the roadside at Alhaji Masha area by the alleged mother of the baby.

Confirming the story, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday said the baby boy was rescued by a social worker attached to a hospital in Surulere.

Hundeyin, said immediately the social worker saw the baby on the roadside, she rushed to the Surulere a to make a report and the baby was evacuated.

“The baby was evacuated and rushed to Randle General Hospital for medical attention and the baby is responding to treatment.”

Meanwhile, the Surulere Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and those from family support unit visited the scene of the incident, while investigation is ongoing.
