Robbers invade Lagos hotel, shoot 3 lodgers, police arrest 2 suspects
Some lodgers and workers of an hotel in the Alagbado area of Lagos State (name withheld), were in the early hours of yesterday injured as dare devil armed robbers invaded the hotel.
Three of the lodgers were reportedly shot by the robbers, who reportedly held all the workers and lodgers at the hotel hostage
Two members of the nine man robbery gang who reportedly came from Agbara in Ogun State to attack the hotel have however been arrested by the police.
The state Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday said that the DPO of Alagbado Police Station received a distress call about the attack on the hotel around 3am yesterday.
A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with our correspondent stated that the arrival of the police prevented the robbery operation from being a very bloody one.
Hundeyin said the DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene and engaged the robbers in a gun duel.
“Subsequently, two of the armed robbers were arrested and the following items were recovered from them: four locally- made pistol ,One Toyota Corolla Saloon car, four expended ammunition, two Nokia phones , one Itel phone ,one Techno phone, one jack knife , six ATM Cards, three wrist watches, three female handbags and a sum of fifty four thousand naira were recovered from them.”
The police spokesperson also stated that the robbers, numbering about nine had shot and injured three of the hotel lodgers before the policemen arrived at the scene.
According to the police, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang of armed robbers were nine in number, who came into the area from Agbara.”
The injured victims of the robbery operation have been taken to the hospital, where they are receiving treatments.
Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police stated that investigations were ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
